Hello, Friends!

I hope all is well with you. What a great weekend it was getting to attend and enjoy the World Championship Extreme Cowboy Race at the Saddle and Sirloin Club in Kansas City. Congratulations goes out to Bill Hull, Craig Cameron, and the Saddle and Sirloin Club members for pulling off such a great event. The competition was real tough with the Championship Title going to Teryn Muensch of Texas. Local cowboy, Lee Hart from the D&M Cattle Company in Greeley, Kansas fared real well coming up third in the finals and winning the average of the 2 go rounds. The weather was just wonderful, and it was great to see everyone who attended.

If any of you are around the AQHA World Show on Thursday, Nov.15, in Oklahoma City make sure you stop by Brad Lund’s stall area around 6:30 pm and have a brisket sandwich with us. We are hosting a reception for Brad along with our Purina customers and friends.

Just a reminder -- our December issue of Better Horses Network will be coming out the first part of December.  If you are interested in advertising, give Anna Newman a call at 866/655-7100 or me at 785/418-6047. Our deadline for advertising is November 20th.

Our Strategy® Horse Challenge has been extended until 12/31/07.  What a great opportunity to let us show you what Purina’s Strategy® can do for your horse or horses.  If interested in giving Strategy® or any of our other products a try, get in touch with me or your local Purina Rep or Dealer.

Don’t forget to check out our websites at www.betterhorsesnetwork.com or www.betterhorsesradio.com.  Let me know if I can be of any help to you, and I hope to see you soon!

Happy Trails!

Ernie

Horse Management Tip

Winter Blanket and Sheet Washing Tip

Who has time to run to town to the laundromat these days?  Instead, hang your horse blanket over your tie rack, get your EQ Solutions Shampoo/Dispenser, soak and rinse the outside and underneath side of your blankets or sheets and let hang dry in the fall breeze!

Easy, Easy, Easy. And best thing about it--EQ solutions is not irritating to your horse.  If you don't get it all rinsed out-- no worries--be sure to read their label.  It's one of the greatest products I've ever used.  You can also wash halters, saddle blankets and more this way.

Horsey Treat Recipe

Apple Surprise

     One medium to large apple
     Cooking oats
     Molasses
     Chopped up carrots
     Crushed bran flakes

Hollow out the apple with a peeler as much as you can, scooping out the insides.  Pour some oats into it, then add some molasses -- repeating this until you have a centimeter to go.  Make sure you stir the oats and molasses with a strong tool like a chopstick.  Put some carrots on top and punch them down, squeezing a bit of molasses out the top and add the crushed bran flakes.  Put in a freezable bag and put in the freezer.  Take it out when you're ready to use and warm it up a bit.

Then feed to your horse as a great autumn treat.  It will be a reward your horse will remember!

Thoughts To Ponder

By Charley Green

The Kitchen Table

Thinking there might be a correlation between the size of one's success and the frequency of bellying up to the kitchen table, I've fathomed
a theory that states:

Girth increases exponentially based upon the frequency of heaping helpings of sweet and fatty foods
without a corresponding amount of heaping helpings of physical exertion and discipline.

Conversely:  The increased frequency of exertion and discipline minus the consumption of those sweet
and fatty foods diminishes the size of the girth exponentially.

I'm going to let you folks chew and ponder on this one a bit.
