Hello Friends!
Welcome to our "new look" for 2010! We are always
looking for ways to raise your equine experience to a higher level, and we
hope our new format makes for easy reading and easy access to
horse-related topics and organizations.
I hope all is going well for you. It finally looks like their might be
some Spring weather in our sights. To everyone's agreement, it has been a
way too long winter.
We had one of the best Horse Owner Workshops
(HOW Meeting) that I have ever been involved with on Saturday. It was
great to see many of you at the Wilhite and Frees Equine Hospital near
Peculiar, MO. The sessions from the veterinarians, Adequan, and
Purina were very informative.
I would like to thank Ransomed Heart Ranch and Open Range
Ministry for hosting our Horseman's Priority Clinic the first of February
near Lone Jack, MO. As it was last year, the program and clinics
were just super. I would urge anyone near by the Lone Jack area to attend
their Cowboy Church Services on Saturday night. They are truly a great
bunch of folks.
Last Monday I just returned from a 13-day Better Horses
Radio Road Show that started out at Equifest in Kansas. After leaving
Equifest, we journeyed to Jackson, Mississippi to work the Dixie Nationals
at the Purina Booth. The Dixie Nationals was great, and I met a lot of new
friends. I also broke the record on how many days in a row one could eat
catfish. They have the best catfish in the world.
Better Horses Radio is still on the grow! Beginning on
Saturday, March 6th, we will begin airing on Wichita's KFTI AM
Radio. You can find it on 1070 on your AM dial and will air at 6:30 on
Saturday mornings. If you would like for us to cover a specific topic or
have an Equine Health question for Dr. Frees on the program, email me at
ernie@betterhorsesradio.com
or Dawn, my co-host, at
dawn@betterhorsesradio.com.
Have you visited our websites at
www.betterhorsesnetwork.com
or www.betterhorsesradio.com
lately ? We have done a complete facelift on the network and are presently
working on the radio site. Remember our Better Horses Network is
here for you to get your story, product, or needs out to the Equine
Community. We can do it through our Better Horses Publication,
Electronic Newsletter, Radio Show, and our events. Just let me know
how we can help.
Our 2010 Spring Edition of Better Horses Network
will come out the first of April.
Our advertising deadline is March
20th. If you are interested in running an ad, give Connie a
call at 785/418-2615 or Jana Barcus a call at 913/731-2509.
Make sure you continue to go to
www.purinamills.com to keep
informed of all of the Horse Owner's Workshop
meetings that are going on. I hope to see you at a HOW event near you.
Don’t forget Missouri's HorseFest coming on March 12th,13th,
& 14th in Springfield, MO. Stacie Westfall, Kerry Kuhn, and
many more events will be at this year's event. I look forward to seeing
you down at Springfield.
Coming Soon From Purina Research --Ultium Growth® and
Strategy Healthy Edge®! These are two exciting new products that will
really make an impact in the equine industry. They will be available this
coming April. I will keep you informed.
Let me know if I can be of help in any way . You can
call me at 785/418-6047 or email me at

Until next time,
Happy Trails!

Horse Management Tip
|
Spring Vaccinations / Worm Check
Make sure you contact your veterinarian to get your horse's spring vaccination
scheduled.
Also, with the problem of worms becoming resistance to different wormers, it is
a good idea to have your veterinarian do a fecal examination on your horse or
horses.

Thoughts To Ponder

Age, Experience and Wisdom
Living a worthwhile life isn't limited by age; it's whether or not we're
willing to maintain a positive attitude, believe in ourselves and stay
productive. That's what creates a fulfilled life. We all have the benefit of
experience and acquired wisdom to take us from where we've been, to where
we're at, to where we want to go. Combined with the right thinking, most
folks of any age have the ability to make happen any dream or goal left
unrealized.
One of my friends and heroes, the late Bill Gove, was the first president of
the National Speakers Association and regarded as the "Father of
Professional Speaking." Late in life when most others had embraced and
settled into retirement, Bill would tell his students and audiences:
I want you to know I am not an 89-year-old has-been; I'm an 89-year-old
professional speaker!
Bill was one of the best, because he was a living example of how attitudes
and actions are the defining factors in a fulfilling life, regardless of the
number of candles on a cake.
