• June 22-24   Equine Festival, Saddle & Sirloin Club, Kansas City, MO.  Craig Cameron and the Extreme Cowboy Race competition.  You won't want to miss The Network Challenge with Randy Miller-KCTV 5 versus Mark Alford-Fox 4 versus Rusty Walker-KDKF on Sunday!  $1000 to the Charity of your choice!  Along with this competition, there will be 60 cowboys/cowgirls going for the Championship of the Extreme Cowboy Race.  Old West barbeques plus John King's Rocky Ridge 8 Horse Clydesdale Hitch will be there and will do an exhibition.  Cowboy music, entertainment and more!  Also, see HorseSoccer.com in action!  Purina Mills influentials across the country will be invited.  World Champion Charro, Jerry Diaz, will be there.  More details on this exciting event later!

Purina Mills Strategy® Goes Hollywood!  If any of you have had a chance to see the movie, Flicka, you may have noticed the great view of our Strategy® banner in the rodeo scene and in a few other passing shots.  One of the nicest parts of the movie is the closing credits where there is a long series of pictures of little girls with their horses . . . very much like our Senior ads.  Nice publicity for our Strategy® product!

Better Animals Program - In 2007, our sales and marketing program, Better Animals, will be unveiled.  This will be a new and exciting sales and marketing program and details will follow early in 2007. 

RFD-TV - Also, I hope you have had a chance to see some of the RFD-TV programs, especially the September 18th program that hosted Purina's Equine Nutritionists and Veterinarians.  More programs to follow in 2007 -- we will keep you posted on any special equine-featured programming.

• Laura Kraut and Miss Independent Win O'Meara Trophy in President's Cup Qualifier Win!  Laura Kraut and Miss Independent raced to victory at the Washington International Horse Show held at the Verizon Center in October.  This earned Laura a spot in the main event, the $100,000 President's Cup Grand Prix held the next day.  Click Here to review details as published on PhelpsSports.com web-site.

• 48th Annual Washington International Horse Show (October 24-29, Verizon Center, Washington DC) - Grand Prix Show Jumper Todd Minikus competed in this year's program and had competed in the barrel racing competition the previous year.  "It's a lot of fun," commented Todd, "and I think the spectators really enjoyed it.  I think there are more common denominators than uncommon when it comes to different disciplines of riding."    Click Here to view summary of results as reported in the Washington International Horse Show Press Release

What Determines Level of Lysine?  

What determines the level of lysine used in Ultium, Strategy, the Omolenes and Equine Junior?  Answer:  Equine research provides estimates of the daily requirements for lysine by different classes of horses.  Many studies on amino acid requirements of horses have also been conducted at the Purina Horse Research Center.  Based on the information available, Purina horse feeds are formulated so that the requirement for lysine is met when the feed is fed as recommended.  Then further studies are conducted at the Purina Horse Research Center and with research cooperators to confirm that the feeds perform as expected before they are marketed.
