County Fairs Hey 4-H'ers

July 22 – National Day of the American Cowboy

Old Prairie Town at Ward-Meade Historic Site, 124 N.W. Fillmore, Topeka, will celebrate the National Day of the American Cowboy from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 22. The family activities will center around the cowboy and cowgirl way of life and include a rope maker, lasso practice, stick-pony barrel racing and water gun shooting. The Flint Hills Western Re-Enactors, featuring "The Bart Plasterson Gang," will perform reenactments in front of the Old Prairie Town depot, and BJ Fogerty will perform Western music. Live entertainment will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Dewayne Burgess, Roy Frey Western, will demonstrate how to shape palm leaf hats at 11 a.m. and discuss western tack through out the day. Guides will be staged in all of the Old Prairie Town buildings to explain their history. Day of the Cowboy admission will be $4, with children 5 and younger admitted at no cost.
