Awards
Let Roy Frey Western be your equine organizations year-end award headquarters. Montana Silversmiths buckles are always a great prize – they take 6-8 weeks to make up so don’t wait too long to order. Don’t know what to give as awards? How about gift certificates to Roy Frey Western and let the winners pick out their own awards? Or picture frames, throws, jackets, hay bags, totes, boot bags, day planners, western brief cases or hat cans are just a few other ideas. Come in and let Mike, Saundra, Lindsay or Dewayne help you pick out your special prizes.

Time to Trail Ride
October is the best time of year to go trail riding. We recently rode at Clinton, Perry and Melvern State Parks. The trails are in good shape and it is just beautiful. One of our favorite trail riding items is the long Outback raincoats that are lightweight, breathable, packable and rider friendly. Be sure you have a Stowaway cantle pack for your trail riding necessities. They never move when you ride and have lots of different places to store things –washable too! New is a trail riding 9’ single rein made of nylon braid that is soft, great width, with leather knot markers for extra grip. Several of us tested this rein on the Dream Ride and the CF Ride and everyone loved it. We also have the western seat savers that are snug fitting, plush made of CoolBack Fleece. Insulated saddle bags are great for carrying lunch and water and they really keep things cold.

Chinks
Just arrived are several pair of the new Saddle Barn Chinks. We have brown & white hair-on (YeeHaw!), brown marbled, natural, brown with black trim and plain brown. All have beautiful tooling and conchos. If you don’t have a pair, come in and put a pair on your Christmas list!

Ariat’s Men’s Performance Shirts
Whether you’re roping in the arena or working on the ranch, count on Ariat’s Men’s Performance Shirts to meet your needs for fit, styling and performance.

The unique level of comfort and technology is unseen in any other shirt in the marketplace. Sleeves are engineered for you to reach up and out without your shirt pulling out, breathable mesh at the upper back keeps you cool, and under arm gussets promote generous freedom of movement.

And to top it all off, the lightweight fabric provides a soft-texture and allow a crease to hold for that crisp, clean look. An SPF finish even protects you against harmful UV rays. What more can you ask for in a shirt! Roy Frey Western has a good selection of blues and greens, solids and plaids, priced from $39.99 - $49.99. Great to rope in or perfect for the big fall shows.

What’s Cooking?
My new favorite steak is the “Flat Iron Steak”. It is just delicious grilled with a simple rub or seasoning. The Flat Iron Steak is cut from the shoulder and is similar to the flank steak in shape. It is economical, very tender and flavorful. The leftovers are great on a salad or for fajitas. You can find Flat Iron Steaks at Dillon’s. Just bake a potato, fix a salad, and a vegetable and as far as I am concerned, you have a perfect meal.

Here’s a soup that is perfect for a cool fall evening – make some cornbread to go along with it and enjoy!
