Christmas is less than twenty some days away! Cowboys, you’d better saddle up and get on down to the store so Saundra, Lindsay, Liz or Marilyn can help you pick out that perfect gift for your favorite cowgirl! They will even gift wrap it for you! Cowgirls, let Mike and Dewayne help you select a pair of boots, hat, or shirt and jeans for that cowboy in your life. Mike and Dewayne won’t be doing any gift wrapping, but one of the girls will be glad to do that for you!

Top 12 Western Gift Ideas:
Christmas is just around the corner and it is always fun to find that unique and special gift for your favorite cowboy or cowgirl and don’t forget your equine partner! Here’s a list of some of my favorite western gifts. I hope Santa will use this list when he does his shopping for me! And, yes, Santa, I (Jo) have been a very, very good girl this year!

     1. Western Rugs – Priced $39 & up – lots of colors and patterns – for home, office or horse trailer.
     2. American Ranch Faux Leather & Fleece Throws - $50 – washable, softest feel ever – perfect for the recliner,
couch or living quarter horse trailer.
     3. Boots – Can’t have too many pairs of boots! Work or dress, exotic or casual. Two must haves – Ariat Terrains –
the leather lace up shoe that is so comfortable with lots of support for walking and standing; and the warm, dry,
lightweight, comfortable, Muck boot, for chores and winter weather! Buckaroos were the most popular style of
boot sold at the Extreme Cowboy Race along with square toed boots.
     4. Western Apparel – Shirts, blouses, jeans, belts, socks, vests, jackets, sweatshirts, wild rags and gloves! For
the authentic cowboy western look – tapestry vests, bib and collarless WahMaker shirts for cowboys and mutton
sleeve blouses, vests and split riding skirts for the cowgirls. Always dress your western best and what cowgirl or
         cowboy doesn’t like new duds!
     5. Western Art – Deck the walls with a new piece of western art. Liven up the bunkhouse for your holiday
entertaining with a new look and a new picture on the wall will make a dramatic change. Drape a little greenery
over it for a festive holiday look while you are decorating.
     6. Hats & Hat Cans – Time to treat your self to a new western felt hat. Let Mike & Dewayne custom shape it
to fit your face. Colors range this year from silver belly to brown to black. Ribbon trim is really in! Dewayne just
loves his new Bison hat from Resistol – yes, it’s made from Buffalo fur! Want a custom hat made? Let us put you
in touch with The Hat Doctor, Rex Fleming, Warrensburg, MO and he will build it for you. Another perfect gift is
a hat can to store your good hats to protect and retain the shape. Hat cans run $40 and come in all colors – you
can even paint or decorate the hat can if you are creative!
     7. Leather Jackets – It is leather weather! Leather works for dress or casual wear. Leather vests are always a
popular gift. Lambskin sports jackets with ostrich trim are the hot item for men. Men’s suede fringe jackets are
a must have this year. Ladies have many styles to choose from – suede or smooth leather in tan and black with
many different trims – plus leather vests and shawls for that special event.
     8. Unique Western Jewelry – Win that cowgirl’s heart with a beautiful turquoise necklace, bracelet, and earrings.
Montana Silversmith has a great collection this year as well. Cowboys, you can’t go wrong with a piece of jewelry!
     9. Western Dishware – Update that holiday table with a new set of western dishware. There are many new patterns
to choose from – Brands (tan with brown brands), Iron Star (in blue and rust) ,White Equine Elegance (in white) or
the new Vintage Collection from Montana Silversmith; Andiron from Triple Creek; and Rust Star & Barbwire from
M&F. Have the dishes? Now it’s time to add the silverware, glassware and companion pieces. Don’t forget the
cowhide table runners or placemats to show off your new dishware. Or how about a cowhide wine holder or
western vase to add pizzazz to your table.
    10. Purses, Wallets, Billfolds, Cell Phone Holders, Checkbook or Bible Covers – Any nice quality leather
product is not only a functional, but a stylish gift that reminds you of the western lifestyle each time you use it.
    11. Chinks – Now we know why all the real cowboys wear them – they are comfortable, protect your legs, keep
you warm, help keep you in the saddle and they look good! Saddle Barn’s tooling is outstanding and the leather
is soft. I’m definitely putting a pair of chinks on my Christmas list.
    12. Gift Certificates – Totally confused and don’t know what to get that hard to find person – go for a gift
certificate and let them pick out the gift that will fit their needs – makes everyone happy and it is easy!

Cody Bruner Benefit Rodeo Sat., Dec. 15th in Topeka

Unfortunately, during the URA Finals rodeo in November, Cody Bruner, bull rider from Warrensburg, MO, lost his life in the arena when the bull he successfully rode, critically injured him on the dismount. The Kansas Expocentre has donated the arena for a benefit rodeo on December 15th at 7 pm. Slack will be held that morning. Tickets will be sold at the door with all proceeds going to the Brunner family to help cover funeral expenses. Tickets will be either $5.00 or $6.00 per adult and half that amount for children. Land O'Lakes-Purina Feed has donated $500.00! The support everyone is showing is unbelievable! We are so proud of all of the supporters of the URA, Topeka and the surrounding communities. We hope everyone will take a break in the Christmas festivities and come out to support this benefit rodeo.
