Hello Friends!
Wow! Where did January go? With our momentum shifting to
February, you won’t want to miss the Horseman’s Priority Conference this
coming weekend at the Ransomed Heart Ranch near Lone Jack, MO. On
Saturday, Feb.6th, we have a equine clinic packed day featuring
Brent Wright, Kerry Kuhn along with a list of great horsemen. You won’t
want to miss the great barbeque dinner that evening followed by a great
service with the Open Range Ministry. Make sure you look at the flyer and
plan to bring your family and friends this Saturday to the Horseman's
Priority Clinic.
Our next stop with the Better Horses Radio Show Road Show
will be to Wichita, Kansas setting up at Kansas Equifest. This great event
has a tremendous lineup including Al Dunning and Ken McNabb. Make sure you
stop at our Purina Booth and come by and see us. As soon as Equifest is
over off we go to spend a week at the Dixie Nationals in Jackson,
Mississippi.
If you are anywhere around Topeka, KS, you might want to
tune in to 94.5 FM Radio where they are featuring singer, Rusty Rierson.
Many of you know Rusty from his singing at our Better Horses Radio
Trailer. Rusty and his song, "Those Little Hands" have been chosen by
Rusty Walker and her radio station to represent the St.Judes Hospital
promotion that they do every year. Congratulations Rusty!
Also, a big congratulations goes out to Geff Dawson the
husband of Dawn Dawson my cohost for Better Horses Radio. Geff's new CD
has topped #1 position with the Western Music Cowboy Poetry CD's in the
country. Geff is the real deal.
It is a few weeks off but plan to attend the Equine Client
Education Day at Wilhite and Frees Equine Hospital near Peculiar, MO on
Saturday, Feb.27th. This will be a great day filled with equine
education. Check out the flyer for more information.
Purina Mills Research is what makes the difference, if I
can be of a help in getting your horses on Purina, don't hesitate to get
in touch with me at
ernie@betterhorsesradio.com .
I hope to see you down the trail.
Happy Trails!

Horse Management Tip
|
Distracted Training
You pay more attention to your buddies or friends on the cell phone
when you are riding your horse than you do to him.
Make a commitment to focusing on your horse, whether it is in the
saddle or stall.

Horsey Treat Recipe
|
 |
Carrot Surprise |
Ingredients:
One medium to large apple
Cooking oats
Molasses
Chopped up carrots
Crushed bran flakes
Hollow out the apple with a peeler as much as you can, scooping out the insides.
Pour some oats into it, then add some molasses -- repeating this until you have
a centimeter to go. Make sure you stir the oats and molasses with a strong
tool like a chopstick. Put some carrots on top and punch them down,
squeezing a bit of molasses out the top and add the crushed bran flakes.
Put in a freezable bag and put in the freezer.
Take it out when you're
ready to use and warm it up a bit.
A special winter treat . . . for that very special horse of yours!
Thoughts To Ponder

Looking Back
I don't care
who you are, you just can't reach middle life without
having done and said a whole lot of foolish things.
- Will Rogers
A lot of folks wished they were 40, 50 or 60 again knowing then what they
know now. I pondered that for a while, and I came to the understanding
that if those folks aren't doing now with what they know, then they sure as
heck wouldn't do anything different even if they were younger.
It's always easier to do the talking about what might have been than
Cowboyin' Up and doin' the walking to what's possible today. If
you're not riding the high country now, take a real hard look and make the
change to get off the low road or living in the past; then take the high
road and begin living today.
"When I saddle up and
ride into the sunset, it will be with the knowledge that we've done great
things. We kept faith and a promise as old as this land we love and as
big as the sky. A brilliant vision of America as a shining city on a
hill. Thanks to all of you, and with God's help, America's greatest
chapter is still to be written -- for the best is yet to come."
- Ronald Wilson Reagan, December 1, 1988
