Volume 4, Number 10
Hello, Friends!
Wow what a day Sunday afternoon was for riding! My two sons, Brent and Matthew, and myself went for a 3-hour ride at the Burkdoll Ranch near Bush City, Kansas to check out the trails for the upcoming Old West Cowboy Days Trail Ride on June 7 & 8. It has been really gratifying to me to see how the boys have taken to riding their horses.
If you are near Topeka, Kansas this coming weekend, you might want to stop by the Kansas ExpoCentre and take in some of the barrel racing at the State NBHA Finals. We will be having a booth there all weekend along with serving barbeque on Saturday night.
Don’t miss the Brent Wright/Shawn
Flarida
Clinic to be held on May 31st and June 1 at the
Eby
Ranch located 3.5 miles south of Louisburg, Kansas on Metcalf Avenue.
The actual address is 30612 Metcalf Avenue. The actual clinic is sold out but we
do have room for auditiors. The cost of auditing is $75 and includes a ticket to
the steak fry on Saturday night. Saturday night will be a special night as we
recognize Brent Wright as being the newest Million Dollar Rider for the NRHA. If
you can’t make the clinic but would like to come Saturday night, you can get a
ticket for $25. This will be a great time complete with great food and
entertainment. If you would like to make reservations for Saturday night, e-mail
or call me. My number is 785/418-6047 and my e-mail is ernest_rodina@purina-mills.com
. You can also call Susan Bershauer at 913/837-8253.
On the Friday night, May 30th, before the 2-Day Clinic we will be having a
Special HOW Meeting (Horse Owner Workshop) at the Eby Ranch with Shawn Flarida,
Brent Wright, and Rebecca Rigdon. Rebecca is a Dressage Trainer and
USDF Judge and will do a demonstration involving Dressage along with Brent and
Shawn with Reining. Doors open at 6:00 PM and admission is Free. Information is
inside this newsletter.
Purina’s new WellSolve Diets are available now at WellSolve Certified Dealers. These diets are for horses with special needs. You can go to www.wellsolveequine.com or call (877) 454-7109 to find out more about these products.

Horsey Treat Recipe
Cheer Me Up Horse Cookies
6 cups bran
2 cups oatmeal
2 cups cracked corn
2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
2 tblsp. salt
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 eggs
16 oz. sweetened apple juice
2/3 cup molasses
6 tblsp. corn oil
Preheat oven to 325oF. Roll the dough into one- or two-inch
balls. Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake for 45 minutes or until
they are dry and crisp. (Dough is very sticky; it helps to dip your hands
in water periodically while handling it.) A sweet treat for your favorite horse!
