Volume 2, Number 2
Wow! This newsletter snuck up on me. Between trying to get our 2006 Stallion
Edition out and planning HOW meetings this spring, I lost track of time. I hope
all is well with you since last talking to you.
We are in the process of entering all of the meetings and events for our Horse
Owner Workshops on our Purina web-page. You can log on to
www.purinamills.com
and click on the “HOW” logo to find all of the meetings in your area. I figured
up between the Horseman’s Priority Clinic that is coming up on Feb.4th & 5th in
Topeka, Kansas and the Flint Hills Round-Up on May 5th, 6th & 7th, we will be
holding 29 events across the district.
Thanks to JoAnn Riggs, who along with Dr. Mike Stachiw is responsible for
putting this newsletter together, you will see we are adding a couple more
features. You will have the opportunity to advertise your stallion(s) in our
“Stallion Showcase”. Also, you will be able to build a Classified Ad and place
it directly in our newsletter. These “computer folks” are so smart, they
frighten me!
As I mentioned earlier, our Priority Conference is coming up in two weeks Please
plan to attend. It is going to be a great weekend! We still have room if you
want to bring your horse and enjoy the weekend. The Capitol Plaza Hotel is right
next door and has some great rates. (Call 785/357-0327 to reserve a room.)
Our Teddy Robinson Clinic on April 6th & 7th, is filling up fast. We only have
about 6 spots left for riders.
Thanks again for all you do, and don’t hesitate to let me know if I or Purina
can do anything for you.
Happy Trails!
Ernie

Horsey Treat Recipe
Chargers Crunchies
Try this winter-time treat for your favorite horse – can be made into cookies or
cut into brownie-type servings . . .
Ingredients:
3 cups pelleted horse grain
(soaked in 3-4 cups of water until mush, 1-2 hours)
1 cup bran or cornmeal or alfalfa meal
1 cup molasses
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup corn oil
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tblsp. salt
2-4 cups flour
Mix all ingredients except flour. Then add flour (or oatmeal) 1 cup at a time
until mixture is very doughy. Take a softball size amount of dough and roll out
on a floured surface until ˝ inch thick. (If you are looking for wheat-free, use
cornmeal or oat flour.)
Use cookie cutter to cut out shapes. Decorate or top with cracked corn, crimped
oats or crushed peppermint. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 325o until dry. For
the more time-constrained, place in large shallow brownie pan or large cookie
sheet, decorate, score and bake.
Don’t forget, if you are interested in seeing what the Purina Program can do for
your horse, take the Purina Challenge. E-mail us, and I can get your Purina
representative in touch with you to match the right feeding program for your
horse or horses and TAKE THE CHALLENGE! When it comes to Equine Research, Purina
Mills is the company that can say, “WE FEED OUR FEED TO OUR HORSES, BEFORE WE
ASK YOU TO FEED IT TO YOURS!”
