Volume 2, Number 4
Hi folks! I am really getting going with our Horse Owner Workshops (HOW) with three good ones scheduled this week. Make sure you get to the calendar section and try to get to one of the Craig Cameron Clinics held in your area. On Tuesday night, he will be in Lansing, KS; Wednesday night, he will be at Brad Lund’s near LaCygne; and on Thursday, he will be in Sedalia, MO. Along with his clinics, you will get to hear some very informative talks. It should be fun and educating. Hope that you can make it. Also, don’t forget this is Equifest Week which will be this weekend at the Kansas Coliseum in Wichita. This is an event you should plan to attend.
By now, you should have received your 2006 Stallion Edition of the
Checkerboard. We hit a record 56 pages! Although it might not be overrun with
Stallion ads, there is a lot of good information. There is a correction on page
40 of the Stallion Edition, the special Friday HOW demonstration with
Teddy Robinson is Friday evening, April 7th -- NOT April 5th.
Also, the two-day clinic follows on Saturday, April 8th, and Sunday, April 9th.
I have no idea where my mind was when I proofread that ad. The dates are correct
on the calendar page.
We had great turn outs for my Dale Myler meetings last week. Make sure you
try to attend a HOW meeting with him there; his clinics are tremendous. We have
three scheduled in March at Salisbury, MO, Chillicothe, MO and Leavenworth, KS.
We are excited to have the Checkerboard Corral Radio Show now being aired
every Sunday morning on St. Joe’s KFEQ 680 am radio. It is on at 6:30 am. Also,
our radio show will begin on March 12th in Clinton, MO on KDKD FM radio and will
air on Sunday mornings from 9:00 -10:00. If you get a chance to listen, we
would love to hear your comments. Just go to
www.checkerboardcorral.com and
e-mail us.
I have shared some economics of feeding Purina feeds in "Feeding Tips" below. After reviewing the information, I think of Dr. Karen Davidson’s comment and that is, “You won’t feed cheaper with Purina, but you can feed close to the same cost-Better.” We have the Omolene Challenge going on right now, and we would love to work with you in showing what Purina Horse Feeds can do for your horses. Something to keep in mind is even though it says Omolene Challenge, Strategy, Race Ready, Ultium, Equine Senior, & Equine Junior, all qualify for the Challenge.
On a personal note, I have been really enjoying following our son, Luke, with his indoor track season at Emporia. He has done tremendous since returning from Iraq and enrolling back in school. He had a semester to finish school and a season of outdoor and indoor track in which he runs distance. He runs somewhere between eighty and a hundred miles each week training. I have no idea where he gets the genetics for that stuff. When looking at the running history behind him, I think you could say he qualifies as being a “Crop Out”.
It is great to talk to you; as always, let me know if I can be of help.
Happy Trails!
Ernie
