AMERICAN ROYAL HOSTS
REGIONAL RODEO CHAMPIONSHIP
Kemper Arena - October 24-25, 2008

Local Contestants Compete in Finals Rodeo

Grab your hat and pull on your boots! The annual Dodge Prairie Circuit Finals Rodeo
stampedes into Kansas City’s Kemper Arena October 24-25, 2008!

The American Royal will host the Dodge Prairie Circuit Finals Rodeo for the second
consecutive year. This rodeo is the super bowl of the sport for the Prairie Circuit, pro
rodeo’s regional designation of the 45 rodeos sanctioned by the Pro Rodeo Cowboys
Association (PRCA) in Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma.

The top twelve cowboy and cowgirl competitors in each of 7 events will travel to
Kemper Arena to match up against the bucking horses and bulls and the clock to
go for the title of Prairie Circuit Champ!

These qualifiers have competed at a minimum of 15 pro rodeos in Nebraska, Kansas
and Oklahoma this year, and are the top money winners from those rodeos.

Headlining the list of cowboy and cowgirl contestants is the number one bareback rider
in the world, Steven Dent. Dent won Rodeo Houston’s $50,000 title this spring and the
earnings catapulted him to the top of the standings. In the Prairie Circuit, Dent currently
sits in second place, behind Ft. Scott, Kans. cowboy Jared Keylon.

Other cowboys leading their events in the Prairie Circuit include steer wrestler Sean
Mulligan, Coleman, Okla., team roping partners A.J. Horton, Stigler, Okla. and Jake
Long, Coffeyville, Kans., saddle bronc rider Cort Scheer, Elsmere, Nebr., tie down
roper Steve Brickey, Tahlequah, Okla., barrel racer Mary Burger, Pauls Valley, Okla.,
and bull rider Thad Newell, Muskogee, Okla.

This is the second year the American Royal has hosted the Dodge Prairie Circuit Finals
Rodeo. Over $150,000 will be awarded to the winners at the American Royal, and the
year end champion in each event, plus the contestant with the best aggregate score, will
go on to represent the Prairie Circuit at the next level, the Dodge National Circuit Finals
Rodeo. That rodeo is held in Pocatello, Idaho in April of next year.

A complete list of Prairie Circuit Finals qualifiers can be viewed at www.prorodeo.com
and www.wpra.com. Click on “standings” and then on “circuits.”

Saddle up the car, truck or SUV and head to championship rodeo in Kansas City
October 24-25! It’s the Prairie Circuit Finals Rodeo with the best cowboys and cowgirls
the prairie has to offer! Rodeo performances take place at 7 pm on October 24 and 25.
Josh Turner will be in concert following the October 25 rodeo performance. Turner’s hits
include “Long Black Train.” The American Royal will host a private rodeo performance
for Bayer Animal Health on October 23 and for Kansas Power and Light on October 25
at 1 pm. Tickets are available at the gate or online at www.AmericanRoyal.com (click on
  the rodeo button
