Hello, Friends!
I hope all is going well with you and I bet you are right in the middle of getting ready for Christmas. On Friday, I got back from the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. It was super and what made it special for me, was having Connie and the boys join me the first weekend. Also, Nick one of the twins, was able to fly in to join us. In the past, I have always stayed somewhere on the strip; but this year I stayed at the South Point Hotel and Equestrian Center south of town. I would strongly recommend folks staying there. I am working on trying to get a NFR package for next year to offer to the folks who get our publication and listen to the Better Horses Radio Show. I think it would be a fun time for a group from the area to make the trip and stay out there.
By now, most of those of you who have subscribed should have received your Winter Edition of the Better Horses Network publication. If you have not subscribed yet, you can pick up your free copy from your participating Purina Dealer or Western Store. To subscribe for the Better Horses Publication you can also go to www.betterhorsesnetwork.com and subscribe online.
Don’t miss our 5th Annual Horseman’s Priority Clinic on Feb.2 & 3rd at the Kansas Expo Centre in Topeka, KS. This is always a great time to get together and learn more about the horse along with a time to fellowship with each other. Information is inside this newsletter or you can go to the calendar at www.betterhorsesnetwork.com. We have the Domer Arena for two days and an excellent time to bring your horse to ride and learn. On Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon, we will have open riding. Give me a call if you have any questions at (785) 418-6047.
On a sad note, I got word last night that our good friend and brother in Christ, Steve Stafford, lost his daughter on Friday in a car accident. Steve is like family and has headed up our Cowboy Church for the past several years. He is the pastor of Risen Ranch Cowboy Church in Carthage, MO. The Church phone is (417) 850-5931. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Steve and his family.
If you have not tried Purina’s Strategy® yet, now is the time to take advantage of the Strategy Challenge. Deadline for the program is 12/31/07, so either contact me or your area Purina Rep and let us show you what Strategy® can do for your horses. Give me a call at (785) 418-6047.
I want to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and let us keep in mind during all of this hustle and bustle of Christmas the true meaning of Christmas. And that is the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. I hope to see you soon.
Happy Trails!
Ernie

Horse Management Tip
Warm 'em Up!
One of the most common mistakes made in the winter is not
warming your horse's bit up before asking them to hold it in their mouth. If the
bit is ice cold in your bare hands, imagine what that feels like in your horse's
mouth. Be sure to warm your bits before using them in the cold weather and keep
your horse enjoying the chance to work with you.
Little things like this build your horse's confidence to trust you so take a
little extra time and warm 'em up.
Happy holidays,

2 cups crushed corn
2 cups alfalfa pellets (ground up in food mill or processor)
1 cup corn oil
1 cup bran (cereal works fine)

Merry Christmas to all those special horses out there!
Thoughts To Ponder
By Charley Green
Impossible Things
"Why, sometimes I believe as many as six
impossible things before breakfast!"
- The White Queen in Lewis Carroll's Alice In Wonderland
Whether something's impossible or not depends upon our belief
system. What seems impossible to some folks may very well be possible for
others.
Just how do you turn the impossible into the possible? First, load up on a
heaping bowl of the Breakfast of Champions, Faith and Courage. Then set
some goals, make a plan, get to doing and get 'em done. Then we can say:
Why, quite often I Do six impossible things
before breakfast!

Make sure you contact your Purina Rep or Dealer and ask about the Strategy® Challenge Promotion, which has been extended to 12/31/07. This is an excellent opportunity to give Purina’s Strategy® a try so you can see the top performance it delivers to your horse.
